Step 1

Bake cake. Prepare Ro’s Yellow Cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool in prepared pans.

Step 2

Prepare icing. While cake bakes, prepare buttercream icing following recipe instructions.

Step 3

Assemble cake. Level cakes. Fill, stack and crumb coat cake. Reserve remaining buttercream icing.

Step 4

Make dress pleats. Using white fondant, roll three tapered logs, two measuring 3 in. long, one measuring 3½ in. long x ¼ in. thick at base of logs.

Using buttercream icing, attach 3½ in. long log to front center of cake, with thicker end at base of cake. Repeat with 3 in. logs, attaching to cake on either side of middle log.

Step 5

Tint fondant. Using Golden Yellow icing color, tint ¾ in. ball white fondant golden yellow. Tint 24 oz. white fondant pale blue and 24 oz. white fondant medium blue using color combinations provided. Combine Sky Blue and Royal Blue icing colors to get pale, medium and dark blue colors shown.

Step 6

Make crown. Using 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out golden yellow fondant. Using printable crown pattern and craft knife, cut out crown. Form crown around doll’s head. Carefully remove crown; set aside to dry on cornstarch-dusted cake board.

Step 7

Make under-skirt. Using 20 in. fondant roller with orange guide rings, roll out pale blue fondant to 16 in. circle. Cover cake, smoothing over pleats. Cut out center hole.

Step 8

Form bodice. Using 9 in. fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll out strip of medium blue fondant, measuring 2 in. x 6 in. in size. Using decorating brush, cover upper body of doll with piping gel; wrap fondant strip around bodice, wrapping under arms and around her back, trimming as necessary. Smooth fondant on body, forming sweetheart neckline.

Using decorating brush, brush thin line of piping gel along upper edge of neckline; sprinkle with pearlized sugar. Set doll aside.

Step 9

Make over-skirt. Using 20 in. fondant roller with orange guide rings, roll out medium blue fondant to 16 in. circle. Place over pale blue fondant.

Using craft knife, carefully cut out front panel, exposing pale blue pleats. Be careful not to cut into pale blue fondant. Remove excess fondant.

Insert doll into cake. Using hands, carefully smooth medium blue fondant over cake. Fill middle hole with excess fondant, if needed, to keep doll straight. Continue smoothing fondant up to waistline.

Step 10

Make dress band. Tint 1 oz. fondant dark blue using color combination provided. Using 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll fondant into long strip, about ¼ in. wide. Lightly brush piping gel around waist of doll. Wrap dark blue strip around waist, trimming as necessary.

Step 11

Tint icing. Tint ½ cup decorator icing dark blue using color combination provided. Prepare decorating bag with tip 2 and dark blue icing. Pipe scrolls and dots along open edge of over-skirt.

Step 12

Add dress border. Using decorating brush, brush piping gel along bottom of dress. Cover with pearlized silver sprinkles.

Step 13

Decorate crown. Spray crown with gold Color Mist; let dry, about 15 minutes. Repeat, as necessary, letting crown dry between sprays.

Place on doll’s head.
