Ingredients
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Bite-size chocolate candy, favorite flavor of jam or jelly, walnuts or pecan pieces

- Preheat the oven to 350? .
- In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, walnuts and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
- Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Place them on a prepared baking sheet and make an indentation with your thumb in each ball.
- Bake 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove the cookies from the baking sheet onto the cooling grid.
- Immediately top them by filling the indent on every cookie with candy, jam, jelly or nuts.
- Cool completely to room temperature and enjoy.
