Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe instructions. Pour 3 cups of batter into the 6 inch cake layer pan. Then pour the remaining 3 cups of batter into the 3D Round Cake pan.
Bake and cool the 6 inch cake and the 3D round cake.
Make buttercream icing. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe instructions.
Tint Icing. Tint ½ cup of icing black; reserve majority white.
Stack cake. Place the 6 inch layer cake on the cake circle positioning the crown side upright. Next, fill the layer with buttercream icing then position the 3 D Round cake on top.
Ice cake. Use spatula and white icing to mound icing on top of cake and around sides of cake, blending mound and cake sides into each other for ghost shape.
Make Ghost Arms. Prepare a decorating bag with tip 2A and white icing. Next, pipe pull-out balls to make ghost arms.
Pipe Eyes and Mouth. Prepare a decorating bag with tip 12 and black icing. Outline and fill in eyes and a mouth.Next, pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.
The ball shape makes bold borders and is the first step to learn for figure piping. Vary the basic look by adding stars, dots or spirals on the ball shapes.
