Sausage and Pepper Pizza Recipe


This tasty pizza recipe can be used with Wilton’s Recipe Right 14.25-in. Pizza Pan or with any of our Perfect Results Premium Stoneware Pizza Stones. Topped with savory tomato sauce and sausage, plus colorful peppers, it’s a delicious dish that is sure to be a hit on any family pizza night or any time that craving hits!

Step 1

In small bowl, combine flour and salt.

Step 2

In large bowl, combine yeast, sugar and water; let sit until yeast begins to bubble, about 5-8 minutes. Add oil and flour mixture. Mix on low speed with electric mixer using dough hook until dough forms ball.

Step 3

Spray inside of large bowl with vegetable pan spray. Form dough into ball, place in bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place (30°C) about 1 hour, or until dough has doubled in size.

Step 4

Preheat oven to 220°C. Sprinkle pizza stone with cornmeal.

Step 5

Press down on dough to deflate. Dust work surface generously with flour. Roll dough into 35 cm circle. Transfer dough to prepared stone. Crimp edges to make crust and prick dough with fork. Bake 13-15 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.

Step 6

While crust is baking, in large skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat, using a spatula to break sausage into 2 cm pieces. Cook 8-10 minutes or until sausage is cooked through.

Step 7

After crust has been removed from oven, spoon sauce over crust. Top with 1-1/2 cups mozzarella, sausage and peppers. Sprinkle over remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella. Bake 12 to 15 minutes longer or until cheeses are melted and crust is well-browned. Remove stone to cooling grid; let cool slightly. Top with crushed red pepper, if using; serve warm.

MY FIRST PIZZA I COOKED WAS A "TAKE 'N BAKE" PIZZA AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. SO TODAY I DECIDED TO MAKE ONE WITH A PILLSBURY PIZZA THIN CRUST. & THE CRUST CAME OUT BURNED & STUCK TO THE STONE! I WENT TO WILTON.COM TO CHECK FOR SOME OF THEIR RECIPES & COULD NOT FIND ONE RECIPE THAT CAME UNDER THE TITLE OF STONEWARE PIZZA RECIPES---THEY ALL SPECIFIED TO PUT THE DOUGH "IN THE PAN" TO THE DESIRED THINNESS DESIRED. WHY WOULD YOU SELL & ENDORSE A PRODUCT THAT MAKES IT HARD TO FIND USES FOR THEM. IF IT WERE POSSIBLE I WOULD RETURN THE STONE IN A FLASH. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT COULDN'T BE SOMETHING I'M DOING OR NOT DOING BUT AT LEAST HAVE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PRODUT THAT COULD OFFER TROUBLESHOOTING LIKE SOOO MANY OTHERS DO!
