Looking for an easy way to ombre? This pink zigzag ombre cake combines pretty shades of pink with a simple zigzag technique that looks impressive without spending a lot of time on decorating. It’s perfect for birthdays, summer celebrations and everyday magic.

  1. Bake Cake. Prepare cake mix according to recipe instructions. Bake and cool two 6-inch cake layers. Level, fill and stack for 4 in. high cake.
  2. Tint Icing Combine Rose and Burgundy icing colors to get all pink shades shown. Using color combination provided, tint ½ cup icing each varying shades of pink. You’ll need 5 shades total, from light to dark. Reserve remaining icing white.
  3. Ice Cake. Using white buttercream, ice top smooth.
  4. Prepare Bags Prepare 5 bags with tip 18. Fill separately with various shades of pink icing.
  5. Decorate Cake. Starting at bottom of cake, use darkest shade of pink to pipe zigzag puffs around cake, using varying heights. Continue with next darkest shade, starting at longest part of previous zigzag and filling in gaps. Continue until the top is the lightest shade.
