  1. Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following the roll-out cookie dough instructions. Roll out cookie dough to 1/8 in. thickness.

    Next, use the pumpkin, cauldron, web, bat and tombstone cutters cookie cutters to cut out cookies. Then, bake cookies following the roll-out cookie dough instructions and let cool.

  2. Tint icing. Combine Violet and Pink icing colors to get light purple color shown. Combine Royal Blue and a Touch of Violet icing colors to get light blue color shown.

    Using Pink icing color, tint 1 cup royal icing pink. Using Black icing color, tint 2 cups royal icing black.

    Using color combinations provided, tint 1 cup royal icing each light purple and light blue.

    Reserve 1 cup royal icing white.

  3. Thin icing. Thin icing to 20 second consistency count as follows:

    1 cup light purple.

    1 cup light blue.

    ½ cup pink (reserve remaining ½ cup full-strength).

    ¾ cup white (reserve remaining ¼ cup full-strength)

    1¾ cup black (reserve remaining ¼ cup full-strength).

  4. Prepare decorating bags. Prepare 8 decorating bags with the following tips and icing:

    Tip 3 and full-strength pink icing.

    Tip 2 and full-strength black icing.

    Coupler, tip 2 and full-strength white icing.

    Coupler, tip 3 and thinned light purple icing.

    Coupler, tip 3 and thinned light blue icing.

    Coupler, tip 3 and thinned pink icing.

    Coupler, tip 3 and thinned white icing.

    Coupler, tip 3 and thinned black icing.

  5. Decorate cookies.

    Pumpkin Cookies: Using either thinned white or black icing, pipe center section of pumpkin and two outer sections. Let set, about 10 minutes. Fill in remaining sections with other color. Let set, about 10 minutes. Using light purple, light blue or thinned light pink icing, pipe stem.

    Cauldron Cookies: Using thinned white icing, pipe highlight on side of cauldron. Using thinned pink icing, pipe small oval on top of cauldron, leaving space for black rim. Let set, about 10 minutes. Using thinned black icing, pipe rim around pink oval. Let set, about 10 minutes. Using thinned black icing, fill in rest of cauldron. Let set, about 30 minutes. Using full-strength pink icing, pipe bubbles.

    Bat Cookies: Using thinned pink icing, pipe body. Let set, about 10 minutes. Using thinned pink icing, pipe wings. Let set, about 30 minutes. Using full-strength pink icing, pipe lines on wings. Using full-strength black icing, pipe eyes and mouth. Using full-strength white icing. Pipe fangs.

    Web Cookies: Using light purple icing, fill in web. Using thinned black icing, immediately pipe web lines, starting with straight horizontal and vertical lines, then diagonal lines. Connect lines by piping two curved lines in between, forming web shape.

    Tombstone Cookies: Using thinned blue icing, fill in tombstone. Let set, about 30 minutes. Switch full-strength white icing to tip 4. Pipe message.

    Let all cookies set 24 hours.
