This wise owl knows it?s smart to serve treat pops at upcoming graduation celebrations! Fill the Wilton Treat Pops with German chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream icing for a sweet everyone will hoot about!
Make owl features. Tint 2/3 of the fondant brown and 1/3 of the fondant light orange. Use fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out brown fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use large leaf Cut-Out to cut out two shapes per treat for wings.
For beak, shape 3/8 in. ball of orange fondant into triangle shape. For feet, shape two 3/8 in. balls of orange fondant, flatten. Use back of knife to indent toes.
Make cake circles. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake according to pan package directions. Use knife to level cakes 1/2 in. high. Use smallest round (1 3/4 in.) cutter from set to cut four cake circles per treat pop.
Assemble treat pops. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint brown. Push cake circles into bottom of treat pop. Use tip 2A and brown icing to pipe a swirl of icing from back edge following the curves of the container, then filling the center. Repeat to add three more layers of cake and icing. Place cap on treat pop and then graduation cap.
Make owl. Melt light cocoa Candy Melts candy according to package directions, Use brush and melted candy to attach wings, candy eyeballs, beak and feet on outside of treat pop. Hold in place until set and then chill 3 to 5 minutes.
