Take a sweet ride on a candy rainbow when you eat these yummy cupcakes. The cupcakes are actually wrapped in three shades of candy clay strips made with Wilton Candy Melts Candy for a dazzling color effect.

  1. Make candy clay. One day in advance, prepare candy clay following recipe directions. Divide into 12 equal portions and tint each in light, medium and dark shades of pink, green, blue and violet. Let stand overnight.
  2. Make cupcakes. Prepare batter according to recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes without baking cups.
  3. Attach candy clay to cupcakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula to lightly ice side of cupcake. Reserve remaining icing.

    Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll candy clay 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut strips, 12 in. long x 9/16 in. wide. Attach three strips of candy clay in light, medium and dark shades.

  4. Decorate treat. Tint reserved icing light rose, green, blue and violet. Use tip 1M and coordinating icing to pipe swirl on top of cupcake. Sprinkle with coordinating colored sugar.
