Step 1


Make cookies. Prepare and roll out cookie dough following recipe directions. Use third largest (3 1/4 in.) cutter from 6-pc. hearts nesting plastic cutter set to cut 20 cookies. Use fourth largest (2 1/2 in.) cutter from set to cut nine cookie. Use round Comfort-Grip cutter to cut two cookies. Bake and cool cookies.

Step 2

Decorate cookies. Prepare royal icing following recipe directions. Tint portions red-red/black combination (for red) and a small amount lemon yellow/ivory combination (for yellow). Use tip 2 and full-strength red icing to outline heart cookies. Use thinned red icing in cut disposable bag to flow in heart cookies. Immediately use tip 1 and thinned yellow icing to pipe dots. Use toothpick to slightly pull out bottom to resemble seeds.

For round cookies, use tip 2 and full-strength yellow icing to outline cookies. Use thinned yellow icing in cut disposable bag to flow in cookies. On one cookie, immediately position yellow Sugar Pearls. Let all cookies dry 24 hours.

Step 3


Assemble cookies. Stack the two round cookies in center of serving tray, positioning Sugar Pearl cookie on top. Position 10 large heart cookies in a circle, 4 in. from round cookies, points facing out. Position next circle of heart cookies overlapping and between first group of cookies. Position small heart cookies overlapping second group.
