Stellar Square Cake

Cake serves 12.
Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool. Cake is two-layers, 5 in. tall. Position cake on foil covered board, cut to fit.
Ice cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint light yellow, a small portion light green. Reserve some white.
Use spatula and yellow icing to
ice cake smooth.
Decorate cake. Use cake marker to mark 1 in. down from top of cake on sides. Use tip 1M and white icing to pipe stars on cake top and 1 in. down on cake sides.
Use tip 352 and green icing to pipe leaves randomly on cake top.
Use tip 3 and yellow icing to pipe bead bottom border.
Make a simple, versatile leaf to add realistic details to flowers. Leaf tips can also be used to make simple flowers, such as sunflowers.
