Star Spectrum Cake

Step 1
Bake and cool cake completely. Position on a foil-wrapped cake board cut to pan shape.
Step 2
Prepare icing and tint 2/3 cup red, 1/2 cup orange, 1/2 cup green, 1/3 cup blue and 1/3 yellow. Reserve 3 cups white; (thin 2 1/4 cups with 1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup). Ice smooth with spatula. Use thinned white icing for sides.
Step 3
Pipe star border with tip 21: Use red icing on edge; orange icing 3/8 in. from red; green icing 3/8 in. from orange; blue icing 3/8 in. from green.
Step 4
Pipe star border for center star with tip 21 and yellow icing. Pipe inside stars for center with tip 21 and yellow icing.
Step 5
Pipe star bottom border with tip 21 and white icing.
