Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or wedding shower, these Bright Star Cluster Cookies are a great way to add color to your dessert table. Made using a variety of drop-flower and star decorating tips, these cookies use bright icing to create a fun 3D decoration that literally pop off the plate. Step 1

Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Roll dough to 1/8 in. thickness. Using “B”, “C” and “D” cut-outs, cut out cookies. Bake and cool.

Step 2

Ice cookies. Using spatula, ice cookies smooth using white icing.

Step 3

Tint icing. Combine Teal and Sky Blue icing colors to get turquoise color shown. Combine Lemon and touch of Leaf Green icing colors to get bright green color shown. Combine Rose and Violet icing colors to get medium purple color shown. Combine Rose and Sky Blue icing colors to get deep magenta color shown. Combine Golden Yellow and Lemon icing colors to get yellow color shown. Using color combinations provided, tint ½ cup icing each turquoise, bright green, medium purple, deep magenta and yellow.

Step 4

Decorate cookies. Prepare five decorating bags separately with tips 1G, 1B, 2C, 2F and 199. Fill with desired icing. Pipe stars on cookies.

Pipe flowers with a simple straight up motion. Used sparingly, star drop flowers make delicate accents (especially those made with smaller tips) and are also great fill-in decorations. Using different tips will create different flower effects. Tip 1B is perfect for making hydrangeas, whereas tip 225 creates delicate blossoms.

One of the most popular techniques, stars come in a range of sizes and styles. Experiment with open and closed stars for variation in look. The star technique is timeless and can be used as a classic border or as a stunning fill-in for the top of a dessert.
