We all know that mittens keep our hands nice and warm in the winter months, but these Smitten for Mittens Winter Cookies will warm your soul, too! Decorated with white and red Candy Melts candy, these cookies are very easy to decorate, making this a great project if you need to create several cookies at once. Gift these cute Christmas cookies in pairs to family and friends, or bring a platter in to work next time the weather has everyone down. Make cookies. Prepare and roll out cookie dough following recipe directions. Use mitten cutter from 18-pc. holiday metal cutter set to cut cookies; reverse cutter to make pair. Bake and cool cookies.
Cover cookies. Melt red Candy Melts candy according to package instructions. Use spatula to ice bottom of cookies with melted red candy. Chill until firm, 5 to 10 minutes.
Place cookies candy side down on cooling grid over parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Cover cookies with melted red candy. Tap to settle; chill until firm, 10 to 15 minutes.
Decorate snowflake detail. Use blue from primary candy color set to tint a portion of melted red candy dark red. Use melted dark red candy in cut parchment bag to pipe six snowflake arms on mittens, 1/4 in. wide x 5/8 in. long. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes.
Make cuffs. For each cuff, use scissors to cut six to eight mini marshmallows in small pieces. Melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. For each cuff, mix 1 to 2 tablespoons with mini marshmallow pieces to coat. Immediately spoon onto parchment paper and shape into an oval, 2 1/4 in. wide x 1 in. deep.
Before candy sets, position cookie on cuff. Use spatula to build up mixture around base so cookie can stand vertically. Hold until set, 1 to 2 minutes. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes.
