In advance: Make cloud supports. Cut five pillars to 5 in. long. Use pan to mark airplane shape on waxed paper. Prepare cereal treat mixture. Roll five 1 in., one 1 1/2 in. and four 2 in. balls; position balls around pillars to form 6 x 4 x 2 in. high clouds. Slide out pillars. Roll out white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cover clouds with fondant; use knife to clear openings. Indent puffs with small ball tool from set. Save waxed paper pattern.
Also in advance: Make pilot and airplane details Tint fondant: 4 oz. each black, green and light copper, 3 oz. brown, 1 1/2 oz. gray, 1 oz. yellow; reserve small amount of white. Roll out 1/8 in. thick unless otherwise specified. Attach pieces using damp brush. Let dry on waxed paper-covered boards.
Propeller: Roll out yellow. Cut four blades using medium oval Cut-Out; cut 2-layer center using smallest round Cut-Out and wide end of tip 2A. Arrange blades on waxed paper-covered board; attach larger, then smaller, circle over blades. Steering Wheel: Use gray. Shape a 1 1/4 x 1/2 in. diameter log for stem. Insert Lollipop Stick cut to 3 in. long, leaving 2 in. exposed at bottom to insert into cake. Roll out fondant. Cut wheel using medium round Cut-Out. Attach.
Goggles: Roll out some gray and some black. Use pattern to cut 1 in each color. Attach black over gray. Use tip of knife to cut away lens area, leaving 1/8 in. wide black frame. Roll out some white. Cut whites of eyes using narrow end of tip 12; cut pupils using narrow end of tip 8. Flatten slightly and attach.
Head: Roll out light copper and brown. Fill top hole with fondant. Cover 3 in. Globe in light copper. Cover back portion of head with 5 in. diameter brown circle for aviator cap; use knife to cut and shape front. Cut brown strips 1/4 in. wide; attach for cap edge and two stripes. Attach goggles. Roll and attach 3/8 in. ball nose. Draw smile with FoodWriter.
Arms: Use black. Roll two 3 x 3/4 in. diameter logs. For raised arm, insert 6 in. Lollipop Stick through one log so 1/2 in. is exposed at end for hand. Shape a slight curve into other arm.
Hands: Roll out light copper 3/8 in. thick. Cut 1 1/4 x 1 in. ovals. Cut 3 fingers and slightly shorter thumb, each 1/4 in. wide; shape and round edges. Attach hands with fondant adhesive. Attach one hand onto raised arm (thumb up). For other hand, open thumb wider to hold steering wheel; attach to curved arm.
Scarf: Use green. Use patterns to cut small and large scarf tails; use knife or scissors to cut 3/4 in. deep fringe into wide ends. Use Lollipop Sticks to form pleats. Form pleats in fondant by placing a dowel rod/skewer/lollipop stick under bottom edge of fondant strip and one on top, next to the first dowel rod. For looser pleats, use wooden or plastic dowel rods. For tighter pleats, use wooden skewers or lollipop sticks. Pinch and attach narrow ends over 1 in. of 3 in. long Lollipop Sticks. Set on crumpled tissue to create waves.
Bake and cool 2-layer round cake (trim layers to 1 1/2 in. high for a 3 in. high cake) and airplane cake. For round cake, ice smooth. Prepare for Push-In Pillar Construction; mark top of cake using Airplane Pan. Roll out white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use pattern to cut out nine clouds. Attach to cake sides. Print tip 5 message. Pipe tip 6 bead bottom border. For airplane cake, position on double-thick, foil wrapped cake board, cut to fit. Ice cockpit area smooth in red. Mark stars using large Cut-Out on front wings, medium Cut-Out on back tail. Outline stars and 1/4 in. wide back stripe using tip 3; fill in with tip 16 stars. Cover remainder of cake with red tip 16 stars. Pipe wing star detail with tip 16. Insert 3 1/2 in. plastic dowel rod to support head. Roll a 1 1/4 in. diameter x 4 in. long fondant log; wrap around pillar for upper torso. Insert raised arm, propeller and steering wheel. Cut a 2 x 9 in. fondant rectangle for scarf; wrap around torso. Position head over pillar. Insert scarf tails. Position arm holding steering wheel.
Use saved waxed paper pattern to position cloud supports: Four should rest 1 1/2 in. from cake edge; one should rest where center of plane will be. Position airplane cake.
