Step 1

For pendant cookies, prepare pattern. On cardstock, cut out pennant measuring 2½ in. at base and 4 in. tall. Cut out pattern.

Step 2

Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Roll dough to 1/8 in. thickness. Using pennant pattern, cut out desired amount of cookies. Bake and cool.

Helpful Hint: For easier cutting, roll dough out on parchment paper. Slide onto cookie sheet, then refrigerate dough for 20 to 30 minutes. Cut cookies.

Step 3

Tint icing. Tint 2 cups icing each dark blue and dark red using color combinations provided.

Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to tint icing in the following shades:

  • Dark Blue: 2 cups white icing + 48B + 24P
  • Dark Red: 2 cups white icing + 40R
  • Royal Blue: 2 cups white icing + 48B + 24P
  • Red: 2 cups white icing + 50R

Reserve remaining icing white

Step 4

Ice cookies. Using spatula, ice cookies with blue and red icing, leaving 1/8 in. bare around edge.

Step 5

Decorate cookies. Prepare decorating bag with tip 3 and white icing. Pipe messages on cookies.

Empty Candy Melts candy into small bowl. Melt candy according to package directions. Dip 1 in. of lollipop stick into melted candy. Lay on parchment paper-covered board, laying cookie on top of candy-coated stick. Repeat with remaining cookies. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 6

For rosette cookies, tint icing. Tint 2 cups icing each Royal Blue and Red using color combinations provided above. Reserve remaining icing white.

Step 7

Prepare Color Swirl coupler. Prepare decorating bags with Color Swirl couplers. Fill bags separately with Royal Blue, Red and white icing. Assemble coupler using star decorating tip 1M.

Step 8

Decorate cookies. Pipe rosette on each cookie.
