Rosanna Pansino A Walk on the Wild Side Animal Cookies


Take a walk on the wild side with these fun royal icing cookies. Made using Rosanna Pansino’s Animal Stamp Cookie Cutters, these cookies are both cut and embossed for easy decorating. Once baked, just follow the embossed pattern to make decorating easy breezy! A word to the wise, royal icing does take some time to dry, so plan ahead if making these cookies for a party or celebration.

Step 1

Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Using rolling pin with pink guide rings, roll out dough. Using animal stamp cookie cutters, cut out and emboss cookies according to package directions. Bake and cool.

Step 2

Prepare icing. Prepare royal icing following recipe instructions. Thin to count of 17 according to package directions.

Step 3

Tint icing. Tint one portion icing each brown, black, pink, medium green, light green, purple, grey and yellow using icing colors and color combinations provided. Combine Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow icing colors for light green color shown. Combine Rose and Violet icing colors for purple color shown. Combine Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow icing colors for yellow color shown. Reserve some icing white.

Step 4

Decorate cookies. Prepare 9 decorating bags separately with tinted icing. Cut small 1/8 in. tips in each bag.

Crown Cookie: Using black icing, pipe border around crown cookie. Let dry, about 1 hour. Combine Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow icing colors for yellow color shown. Using yellow icing, fill in cookie. Let dry, about 1 hour.

Dog Cookie: Using black icing, pipe eyes, nose and mouth. Using pink icing, pipe inside ears. Let dry, about 1 hour. Using brown icing, pipe muzzle. Using pink icing, pipe tongue. Let dry, about 30 minutes. Using brown icing, pipe face and around ears. Let dry, about 1 hour. Using white icing, pipe eye highlights.

Unicorn Cookie: Using white icing, pipe face and horn. Let dry, about 30 minutes. Combine Rose and Violet icing colors for purple color shown. Using purple icing, pipe top and bottom portions of mane and nose. Let dry, about 30 minutes. Using purple icing, pipe in middle portion of mane. Using grey icing, pipe eye and nostril. Let dry, about 30 minutes.

Dinosaur Cookie: Using black icing, pipe eye. Let dry, about 30 minutes. Using medium green icing, pipe dinosaur body. Let dry, about 30 minutes. Using medium green icing, pipe legs. Combine Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow icing colors for light green color shown. Using light green icing, pipe spines. Using white icing, pipe eye highlights. Let dry, about 30 minutes.
