Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Grease the princess cake pan.
Step 2
In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Step 3
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat together the eggs, sugar, vanilla and lemon extracts until doubled in volume, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, milk and buttermilk.
Step 5
Mix dry ingredients (from Step 2) into egg mixture until well combined. Whisk in milk mixture (from Step 4) until smooth.
Step 6
Fill each pan two-thirds full of batter (about 3 ½ cups each pan).
Step 7
Bake until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35 to 40 minutes.
Step 8
Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes.
Step 9
Level off the top of each cake with a cake leveler or large serrated knife.
Step 10
Time to decorate!
Stack the cakes in ascending height, leveled side down, with a layer of frosting in between each cake.
Place your doll in the center of the cake and decorate!
Tip: Wrap the doll’s lower half with plastic wrap before placing in cake.
