Step 1

Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool one cake layer, 2 in. high.

Step 2

Ice cake. Prepare decorating bag with tip 789 and white icing; cover cake. Using spatula, smooth icing. Using second smallest round cutter, imprint circle in center of cake.

Step 3

Tint icing. Using Kelly Green icing color, tint 1 cup icing dark green. Using Christmas Red icing color, tint ¼ cup icing red.

Step 4

Prepare bags. Prepare decorating bag with coupler and dark green icing. Prepare additional decorating bag with tip 32 and red icing.

Step 5

Decorate cake. Using tip 233 and dark green icing, pipe wreath, following outline of circle imprint and using heavy pressure in a circular motion.

Using tip 32 and red icing, use shell technique to pipe bow loops. Pipe tails.

Using green icing bag and tip 1, pipe branches on sides of cake.
