Layers of German chocolate cake and rich chocolate buttercream icing combine to create these cute and tasty Reindeer Brigade Treat Pops. A fun Christmas dessert for kids and adults alike, these treat pops use pretzels and almonds to create the reindeer features, as well as simple icing and fondant decorations to add some finishing touches. Create a whole herd of reindeer for your Christmas dessert spread, but don't forget to make one of the noses red!
Make cake circles. Prepare German chocolate cake batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool four cake rounds for each treat in mini whoopie pie pan.
DAY OF CELEBRATION
Assemble treat pops. Prepare chocolate buttercream icing following recipe directions. Push one cake round in bottom of treat pop container. Use tip 12 and chocolate icing to pipe a swirl of icing from back edge following the curve of the container, then filling the center. Repeat to add three more layers of
cake and icing, slightly overfilling top. Use spatula to shape round top.
Add facial features. For ears, insert almonds into top of treat. For antlers, break pretzels in pieces about 2 1/2 in. long and insert in top of treat. Melt black Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Use melted candy in cut parchment bag to attach candy eyeballs, mini candy-coated chocolate nose and pipe mouth. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes.
Make harness. Tint a 3/4 in. fondant ball red-red for each treat. Use 9 in. fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut a strip, 5/16 in. wide x 6 in. long. Use piping gel to attach to container. For studs, use piping gel to attach yellow confetti from flowerful medley sprinkles
