Put the perfect finishing touch on your Thanksgiving or fall celebration with this Piped Pumpkin Cake. Decorated using various shades of orange and yellow frosting, this pumpkin cake is an easy project for beginners and a lovely addition to your table. Add some candles for a birthday party or pipe a message on the top of the cake to add a touch of personalization.
Bake cakes. Prepare cake mix following recipe instructions. Bake and cool three cake layers.
Tint icing. Tint 3½ cups icing blue using color combination provided. Combine Royal Blue and Rose icing colors to get blue color shown. Level, fill and stack cake layers for 6 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth.
Tint 1/3 cup icing each dark orange and yellow using color combinations provided. Combine Orange and Christmas Red icing colors to get dark orange color shown. Combine Golden Yellow and a touch of Orange icing colors to get yellow color shown.
Using Orange icing color, tint 1/3 cup orange.
Using Teal icing color, tint ¼ cup light teal.
Using Royal Blue icing color, tint ½ cup icing dark blue.
Reserve remaining icing white.
Decorate cake. Using toothpick, lightly draw pumpkins on cake.
Prepare three decorating bags with tip 5. Fill separately with light orange, dark orange and dark yellow icing. Pipe pumpkins.
Prepare decorating bag with tip 4 and dark blue icing. Pipe stems.
Prepare two decorating bags with tip 3. Fill separately with light teal and white icing. Pipe sprinkles around sides and on top of cake. Position Sugar Pearls on cake.
