Use leftover pie crust and pastry dough scraps to bake an entirely new treat. Sprinkle with sugar, top with melted Candy Melts candy and sprinkles, or use as a decoration to top iced cupcakes. Almost as good as the pie itself, these baked scraps hint at the goodness of the pie to come.
Use square fondant cutters to cut assorted shapes from dough scraps. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with egg wash (1 egg beaten with a little water).
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or white sparkling sugars and bake in preheated 400ºF oven until golden brown, 7 to 9 minutes.
Cupcake decorations: Use pie crust cutters to cut out dough shapes. Bake as above, adjusting time as necessary. Cool and place on iced cupcakes.
Candy Melts candy drizzled pastry snacks: Place baked and cooled pastry scraps on parchment paper. Melt 1/4 cup light cocoa Candy Melts candy according to package instructions. Place melted candy in disposable decorating bag, cut small opening in tip of bag. Drizzle melted candy over baked pastry scraps and sprinkle with autumn sprinkles. Let set.
