Soft springtime colors make this Pastel Palette Springtime Cake a beautiful choice for any spring or summer celebration. Appropriate for baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties and more, this lovely three-tier cake is decorated with edible icing flowers and combed with an Icing Comb to create the lines on the sides of each cake.
1 to 2 days in advance: Make royal icing flowers. Use flower nail, apple blossom/primrose template and flower squares to make eight tip 126 and seven tip 127 white wild roses. (Make extras to allow for breakage.)
Pipe tip 1 dot centers. Brush petal edges with piping gel; sprinkle with sparkling sugar. Let dry 24 hours on parchment-covered boards.
Bake and cool three 2-layer cakes. Ice smooth in buttercream in assorted colors, icing thicker on sides. Comb sides using square comb from set. Prepare for stacked construction. Attach flowers with icing.
