Step 1

In large bowl, beat shortening and butter with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add vanilla; mix well. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar mixture has been mixed in, icing will appear dry.

Step 2

In small bowl, combine milk and whipped topping mix powder; stir well. Add to icing mixture; beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.

Step 3

Keep icing covered with damp cloth until ready to use. For best results, keep icing bowl in refrigerator when not in use. Refrigerated in an airtight container, this icing can be stored 2 weeks. Re-whip before using.

High Humidity Icing is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Basic recipe This is what I would consider a standard or basic recipe. I make my own toppings from scratch. It takes 5 min more than adding a mix and the ingredients are better conferring superior flavor. This is a recipe for a novice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This frosting is one of the easiest to make and taste delicious. It holds up very well in humid weather. The other thing that i liked about this frosting is that it is NOT too sweet it is just right and to me it kind of tast like snow cream yum yum!!
