Use Wilton icing colors to get bright and vibrant icing and fondant shades that match the rainbow cupcake liners perfectly.

  1. Bake cupcakes. Prepare cake mix following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.
  2. Tint icing. Using rainbow cupcake liners as guide, tint ¾ cup icing each light green, magenta, dark teal and purple using color combinations provided. Combine Leaf Green and Sky Blue icing colors to get light green color shown. Combine Rose and Sky Blue icing colors to get magenta color shown. Combine Teal and Kelly Green icing colors to get teal color shown. Combine Violet and Rose icing colors to get purple color shown.

    Using Lemon Yellow and Orange icing colors, tint ¾ icing each yellow and orange.

    Prepare 6 decorating bags with tip 6B. Fill separately with light green, magenta, dark teal, purple, yellow and orange icing. Alternating colors, pipe rosette on each cupcake.

    Mix sprinkles together in small bowl. Top cupcakes with sprinkles mix.

  3. Make party hats. Flatten rainbow cupcake liners. Cut in half. Cut 1¼ in. half circle from center of each half. Roll into cone. Tape to secure.

    Bottom of cone should be about 1¼ in. wide and cone should measure 3/8 in. tall.

    You’ll need one hat per cupcake.

  4. Tint fondant. Tint ½ oz. fondant each light green, magenta, dark teal and purple using color combinations provided. Combine Leaf Green and Sky Blue icing colors to get light green color shown. Combine Rose and Sky Blue icing colors to get magenta color shown. Combine Teal and Kelly Green icing colors to get teal color shown. Combine Violet and Rose icing colors to get purple color shown.

    Using Lemon Yellow and Orange icing colors, tint ½ oz. fondant each yellow and orange.

  5. Top hats. Working with one color at a time, make 5/8 in. balls of fondant. Position one ball on each hat, alternating colors.
  6. Decorate cupcakes. Position one hat on each cupcake.
