Step 1

Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare loaf pan with vegetable pan spray.

Step 2

In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese on medium speed until creamy. Add sugar and beat until very light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well and scraping down bottom and sides of bowl after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract. Beat in flour mixture just until combined. Remove 1-1/2 cups of batter and stir in cocoa powder until completely incorporated.

Step 4

Spread half of vanilla batter into bottom of prepared pan. Top with half of chocolate batter. Swirl batters together with butter knife. Repeat with remaining vanilla and chocolate batters, smoothing the top slightly after swirling.

Step 5

Bake 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to cooling grid. Cool completely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recipe missing steps I made this cake today. I realized the flour was not included in the instructions. I have enough experience so after mixing the butter with cream cheese and eggs I incorporated the flour in 2 batches, leaving approximative 3 tbsp of flour to be incorporated later in the white batter. I removed the batter for the cacao part, then used the remained flour and mixed it with the white part. I tried to respect the instruction. Used 2 layers of black and white, but the result looks like 2 brown isles in a white sea, so no marble in my case. Also the timing is quite long. When the toothpick came clean, the cake was already almost burned all around. For the marble look I suggest using a fork and playing a little, to brush and intermix the 2 batters. The only thing I did was including some lemon rind in the white batter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing Steps I was very disappointed in the recipe. There are steps missing i.e. when to add the flour with the other ingredients! This recipe did not take like a pound cake at all; more like a cookie. Very very disappointing
