I made this with a golden butter cake and praline filling for a taste testing at work and got rave reviews. The maple flavoring does tend to give the icing a decidely tan color that I deepened with a little of brown to give it that maple scone/donut look. However, I am not sure how it will hold other colors.

I find this recipe to be just ok. Not as maple flavour as I would have liked and I even added more. I compare it to the taste of a maple donut and this icing is much lighter in taste.
