Additional Information

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325°F. Position oven rack in lower half of oven. Grease and flour Classic Wonder Mold (or spray with vegetable pan spray with flour). Make cake batter; pour into prepared pan. Bake 70-85 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan 15 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely. Position cooled cake on foil-wrapped cake circle.

Step 2

Tint about 30 oz. of white fondant rose and tint a 2 in. ball of white fondant blue. Prepare cake for rolled fondant by lightly icing with buttercream. Roll out rose fondant 1/16-in. thick (you'll need about a 15-in. circle; reserve remaining). Cover cake with fondant; smooth. Lightly brush with water; sprinkle with white Cake Sparkles. Attach star sprinkles with dots of buttercream icing. For bodice, roll out blue fondant 1/8 in. thick; cut a 2-1/2 x 4-1/2 in. rectangle. Wrap around doll pick; trim excess with knife. Smooth fondant around pick with fingers. For straps, cut two 3/16 x 1 in. strips; attach with damp brush. Insert pick in cake.

Step 3

For stole, roll out reserved rose fondant 1/8 in. thick; cut a 1-1/4 x 10 in. long strip. Wrap strip around doll pick, gathering in folds at ends. Make pony tail on pick using small rubber band; cut a small rose fondant strip and attach around rubber band with icing. Position doll accessories.

Making Her Entrance Doll Cake is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Several years ago I made a doll cake, but it was for my 21 year old daughter. She was getting maried and for the rehersal dinner we made the Grooms cake, but we also made the doll cake for her. We made it to look like her bridal gown (veil, train, and all). We also hid charms under the bottom of the train with ribbons attached. Each of her bridesmaids chose and pulled out a ribbon with a charm attached. Each charm gave a prediction of what was in store for the attendent (be it a wedding bell, for marriage; a baby carriage, for an upcoming child, a airplane, for a trip, etc.). Everyone really enjoyed not only the cake but the fun that the cake held for the bridal party.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have used this one over and over for birthday parties. It's a too cute, timeless idea...My mom even had one of these cakes! It's not too hard to make, & I always change up the colors or the doll to fit the birthday girl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this cake for a friend's birthday party and it was a BIG hit. It was very easy to make, and the birthday girls smile was worth the work.
