Make lamb cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool completely according to pan package directions. Position on a foil-wrapped cake board.
Decorate lamb cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint a small portion black, reserve majority white. Use spatula and white icing to ice cake smooth. Use tip 102 with wide opening of tip positioned against cake and white icing to pipe cornelli lace over lamb's head and body, leaving face area open. Use tip 2 and black icing to outline eyes and mouth, and outline and fill in nose.
The random lacy design of this free-form technique depends on the continuous curving lines that do not overlap or touch. Can be used in a small design area or on an entire cake surface. Good for wedding, anniversary and other formal event cakes, but lends itself to more casual themes, as well.
