Step 1

Bake and cool cupcakes in White Standard Baking Cups. Cool completely on Cooling Grid.

Step 2

Prepare Buttercream Icing Recipe. Reserve a small amount of icing, tint black. Tint remaining icing a combination of Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow Icing Colors. Ice cupcakes smooth in yellow with Spatula.

Step 3

Trace patterns on paper; tape onto cake board and cover with waxed paper. Using melted candy in cut parchment bags, pipe in feet, wings, beak and hair. Refrigerate until firm.

Step 4

Position candy trims on cupcake, supporting with dots of icing if necessary. Using a cut parchment bag, add string eyes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved doing these for my son's preschool class. They were a big hit!! Next time I would definitely use a tip on the parchment bag for more control, but otherwise, they turned out AWESOME!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I did these for easter this year (along with bunny butt cupcakes) and they were a big hit - I just cut out orange fondant triangles for the beak and yellow fondant leaves to use as wings... I didnt do the hair but I made each one different by making changing up the way I did my base icing (some smooth, some rough, some with comb-over's, etc) and I changed their eyes (some big, some cross eyed, some crazy eyes)... it was alot of fun to make and took no time at all!
