Lattice Candy Shell Cupcakes

A fine weave of Candy Melts candy tops these treats with color and lacy texture. Use the Dessert Dome Mold to give the pastel lattice top its perfectly rounded shape.

  1. Make lattice candy shells 1 day in advance. Melt dark green, orange, pink and white Candy Melts candy, separately, according to package directions. Use pink candy color to brighten pink melted candy. Use melted green, orange or pink candy to make one lattice shell for each treat.
  2. Make the Lattice Candy Shells

    Use shortening to generously grease inside of top half of Dessert Dome mold. Place melted candy in separate decorating bags. Use desired color of melted Candy Melts candy in cut decorating bag to pipe lines in mold. Start by piping lines from edge to edge on the right half of the mold, starting in center. Repeat piping lines on the left half of the mold.

  3. Turn the mold 90°. Use melted white Candy Melts candy in cut decorating bag to pipe lines from edge to edge as above.
  4. Turn the mold 45°. Use melted colored candy to pipe next layer of lines.
  5. Turn the mold 90°. Use melted white candy to pipe next layer of lines.
  6. Use a paper towel to clean candy off edge of mold. Use melted white candy in cut decorating bag to pipe a line around top edge of mold. Chill until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes. For easier removal, place in freezer for an additional 5 to 10 minutes. Unmold carefully.
  7. Make cupcakes. Prepare cupcake batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes.
  8. Decorate cupcakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use tip 2A in a cut decorating bag to pipe swirl on cupcake top.

    Position lattice shell on cupcake.
