Welcome spring with these cute pastel brownies! With fun characters like bunnies, chicks and lambs, as well as seasonal icons like eggs and flowers, you can create a delicious dessert that kids and adults are sure to love!
NEEDED: See the Supply List for items you can purchase here. You will also need:
Your favorite brownie mix or recipe (4 cups needed)
Icing color to be tinted. Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formula to tint icing in the following shade:
Pastel Purple: 2 cups white icing + 1B + 2P
Make candy decorations. Melt bright white and light cocoa Candy Melts candy. Tint small portions bright white candy yellow, orange, pink and blue. Leave remaining bright white candy white. Place light cocoa, yellow, orange, pink, blue and white melted candy in parchment decorating bags and cut off very small tip from each bag.
Fill cavities in fondant mold with melted candy. Use tri-leaf mold for lamb, flower mold for flowers, large micro pave teardrop mold for eggs, round and leaf molds for bunnies, and small diamond shape, round, micro pave circle and small faceted teardrop molds for chicks. Chill candy until set, about 10 to 15 minutes, unmold. Repeat until all pieces are complete.
Assemble bunnies and chicks using dots of melted candy. Chill until set, about 3 to 5 minutes. Using light cocoa candy, pipe faces on bunnies, chicks and lambs. To add fluff to lamb head, use white candy to pipe three dots in triangle shape. Let set one minute, then pipe three dots in between first layer of dots. Let set one minute. Pipe one final dot on top.
Bake and ice brownies. Use your favorite brownie recipe or mix to make 4 cups of batter. Bake and cool brownies. Tint icing following QuickCount formula. Ice brownies smooth. Sprinkle with nonpareils.
Decorate brownies. Cut out brownies based on size of decoration piece:
Bunny: 1-3/4 inches x 1-1/2 inches
Flower: 1 inch x 1 inch
Egg: 1-1/2 inches x 1-1/4 inches
Lambs: 1-1/4 inches x 1 inch
Chick: 1-1/4 inches x 1-1/2 inches
Place candy pieces on top of iced brownies.
Helpful Hint: If icing has crusted, attach candy with touch of extra icing.
