Step 1

In advance: Color 4 oz. of fondant copper color. Roll log and press into Witch Finger Candy Mold. Remove. Rub pink non-toxic chalk into a tea strainer to make dust. Use brush to rub chalk on fingernail. Shade finger with brown icing color on edges and dab with damp paper towel to blend color. Use very fine artist's brush to paint Brown and Christmas Red Icing Color details. To make eyeballs, tint a small portion of fondant black, roll and shape for pupil; press in mold. Next, mix Lemon Yellow and Leaf Green to tint fondant green, roll and press in for irises. Fill remainder of eyeball mold with white fondant. Remove from mold and insert lollipop stick into back. Use Christmas Red Icing Color and brush to paint veins in eyes. To make tongue, mix a 5/8 in. ball of fondant a mixture of Rose, Copper and Brown Icing Color. Form tongue 3 in. long and 1 1/2 in. wide. Let dry on crumpled tissue to form curve in tongue. Let all pieces dry completely.

Step 2

Make one-mix white batter cake and color Leaf Green. Make darker than needed as it will lighten as it bakes. Fill pans each half full and color the remaining batter Dark Moss Green. Use tip 19 and bag filled with dark moss green batter to swirl color in leaf green batter. Bake and cool cakes. Fill cake layers with strawberry filling. Ice cake fluffy with spatula and buttercream icing. Cut out a piece of cake to expose center of cake. Pipe tip 19 shell bottom border. Position fondant parts and knife. Pipe strawberry filling in cut disposable bag for blood.

It's A Slice Cake is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ghoulisghly clever presentation! I used Air Head candies to make the eyes and tongue and they looked GREAT. Peanut butter chocolate was my choice for the fingers. I painted the nails by dipping wooden skewers in red food paste and then scratching the color onto and into the nail and nail bed area and then sprinkled cocoa powder along the grooves, the fingers appeared to have just scratched their way out of the ground. All other directions were followed with success. This was a delight to prepare and was well received. I adore fall and fall festivities, scare and ghoul is not my thing but this was a very fun cake.
