Hydrangea Mini Cakes

Anyone can make a mini cake bouquet for Mother's Day or any other event. With the Mini Flower Silicone Mold, the petal shapes are baked in, letting you outline and fill in perfect shapes. Add texture using the Brush Embroidery technique.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups Favorite cake recipe or mix

  • 4.5 pound tub Ready-To-Use White Decorator Icing - 1 lb. Can

  • 4 cups Buttercream Frosting

  • Color Right Performance Food Coloring Set

  • Tools

  • Mini Flower Silicone Mold

  • Cookie Sheet

  • 12 in. Disposable Decorating Bags

  • Standard Round Tip 8

  • Decorator Preferred 9inch Angled Spatula

  • Round Cake Decorating Tip 2

  • Cake Decorating Tools, 5-Piece Brush Set

  1. Icing Color Tinted

    \tUse Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to tint icing in the following shades:

    -- Winter Purple (formula 2716): 2 cups icing + 2 B + 3 P

    \t\t

    -- Pastel Blue (formula 284): 2 cups icing + 1 B + 1 P

  2. Make cakes. Bake and cool flower cakes in silicone mold supported by cookie sheet.
  3. Prepare icing. Tint 2 cups icing blue and 2 cups purple.
  4. Decorate cakes. Use tip 8, a disposable decorating bag and purple icing to outline and fill in cakes. Use spatula to smooth. Use tip 2 and blue icing to outline 4-petal flower shapes. Use damp flat brush to pull outlines toward center of flower for brushed embroidery look. Wipe brush often to prevent icing buildup. Use tip 2 and blue icing to pipe dot flower center.
