How to Pipe an Aster Flower

1. - Using tip 7, pipe a mound of icing for the base, approximately 3/4 in. (1.9 cm) diameter.
2. - Using tip 74, position the tip about an 1/8 of in. (3 mm) above the surface of the nail. The flattened, larger point of the tip should face up. The back of the bag should be at a slight angle pointed towards the right (to the left if you are left-handed).
3. - Using steady pressure, pipe a row of short, pointed petals, about 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) long, around the flower base.
4. - Angle the back of the bag a little higher and pipe a second row of slightly shorter petals with the point of the petal placed between those in first row.
5. - With the bag almost straight up, repeat for third row, with still shorter petals.
6. - Holding the bag straight up with tip slightly above flower, pipe shorter petals almost straight up to fill in the center of the flower.
