Mom always took pride in the pictures you drew at school. Now give her a new picture for her special day—a sweet fondant cake accented with a garden of blossoms and vines, hand-painted with icing colors.

  1. Fondant Color Tinted

    \t1. Tint ultra-concentrated color fondant. Use Color Right base color and QuickCount color formula to tint fondant in the following shade:

    -- Neutral Gray (formula 537): 1 oz. fondant + 3 BK

    2. Mix ultra-concentrated fondant with white fondant. Knead a 3/4 in. ball \tof neutral gray fondant into 18 oz. white fondant.

  2. Make layered cakes. Bake and cool two 6 in. cake layers. Level, fill and stack cakes on same-size cake circle for a 2-layer cake, 4 in. high. Use spatula and icing to lightly ice cake smooth.
  3. Prepare fondant. Tint fondant gray. Cover cake with gray fondant.
  4. Make paint. Use a 6 in. cake circle as a paint palette. Pour approximately 1 teaspoon white-white icing color on circle. Add 1 drop Pink Color Right color (P) next to it. Use a brush to blend colors as needed to create several shades of pink. For darker shades, dab more pink into white.

    On a separate area of the cake circle, pour white-white color only.

  5. Paint cakes. Dip end of lollipop stick into white-white color. Stamp on bottom edge of cake. Repeat to make three rows of circles around base of cake. Let dry, about 5 to 10 minutes.

    Use small flat brush and pink paint to outline flowers in various sizes and shades. Use brush embroidery technique to fill in flowers and create a fuzzy edge. Use fine tip brush to paint contrasting highlights on all flowers and flower center. Let dry, about 5 to 10 minutes.

    Use clean liner tip brush and white-white color to paint vines and leaves. Let dry, about 5 to 10 minutes.
