You can see this cake and many more in the How to Pipe Simple Icing Flowers kit, filled with lots of tutorials, inspiration and even a few must-have tools to make your treats blossom.
Tint icing. Combine Rose and Sky Blue icing colors to get dark fuchsia color shown (you will need almost an entire 1 oz. tub Rose icing color to get deep color shown). Tint 3 cups vanilla decorator icing dark fuchsia using color combination provided (icing will get darker as it sits).
Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two 6 in. cake layers. Trim layers to 1½ in. high. Using creamy icing, fill and stack layers for 3 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth using creamy white icing.
Decorate cake. Prepare five decorating bags separately with tips 1B, 1G, 2F, 2C and 225. Fill equally with dark fuchsia icing. Using tips 1B, 1G, 2C and 2F, starting at top of cake, pipe stars, filling in entire top of cake. Continue just over top edge of cake. Using tips 2C, 2F and 225, pipe random stars around sides of cake.
Pipe flowers with a simple straight up motion. Used sparingly, star drop flowers make delicate accents (especially those made with smaller tips) and are also great fill-in decorations. Using different tips will create different flower effects. Tip 1B is perfect for making hydrangeas, whereas tip 225 creates delicate blossoms.
