Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really give s x-mas cookies a pop using star tip than the 2 dimensional royal icing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I make these every Christmas and send them out to neighbors, to school etc. and everyone always raves about them. I make my icing recipe with 1 cup Crisco, no butter margarine and I let the frosting dry completely before I pack them. I also make the color a brighter more mint color green. The frosting usually does not flatten. Sometimes I add a little meringue powder to the frosting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this, however an idea for those who wish to give these away as gifts and are worried that the buttercream will get flattened...use thinned royal icing. We did these last year as a gift for my kids' teachers and they travelled well to school on the bus!
