Daisies provide delightful dimension to this watercolor-inspired cake design. Use the Gum Paste Flower Cutter Set and Ready-To-Use Gum Paste to craft these exquisite flowers in advance. Then, paint the lush backdrop using Wilton Icing Colors.

  1. Make gum paste daisies 2 days in advance. Tint 1 oz. gum paste yellow. Prepare gum glue adhesive following recipe directions. Use fondant roller with blue guide rings to roll out 4 oz. white gum paste 1/16 in. thick. Use small daisy cutter and instructions from gum paste flower cutter set to make 14 daisies without wired centers. Let daisies dry overnight in flower forming cups.

    For centers, roll yellow gum paste into a pea-sized ball and flatten. Use brush and gum glue adhesive to brush centers. Immediately sprinkle with yellow sugar. Let dry. Use brush and gum glue adhesive to attach centers to daisies.

  2. Make layered cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool two 8 in. cakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Prepare, fill and stack cakes for a 2-layer cake, 5 in. high. Place cake on cake circle. Use spatula and icing to ice cakes lightly.
  3. Cover cake with fondant. Tint 36 oz. fondant blue. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out blue fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cover cake with blue fondant. Trim with fondant trimmer.
  4. Decorate cake. Use brush and white-white icing color to paint daisies on cake. In candy melting plate, combine moss green icing color with water. Separately combine lemon yellow icing color with water. Use brush and green mixture to paint stems. Use brush and yellow mixture to paint highlights on stems. Use brush and green mixture to paint daisy calyxes and additional stems. Use brush and gum glue adhesive to attach gum paste daisies to cake.
