I created this cake for a friends daughter first birthday. It was a big hit and everyone was very impressed. I created the leaves and flowers early in the week which helped a lot. Cake needs to have final assembly at party it took me one hour to do the final touches on this cake. I had one branch fall of during transportation but had extra chocolate on hand to reattach. For the tree I could not get coloring that I liked so I took my brown food coloring mixed with a little vodka and painted the tree. This gave it a more realistic looking color. I did not want to worry about getting support system back after party so I had my husband build one. It cost us less then three dollars and took my husband maybe ten minutes to put together. It consisted of a cheap pizza pan for the base, 1/2 inch dowel rod cut to size and round wooden plate (from wood craft section) all screwed together. I had to cut the bottom cake in half to put onto the bottom cake plate but you could not tell once it was frosted.
Turned out great, would do this cake again if asked.

I think I was more excited about this cake, than the little girl that I made it for. I had borrowed the cake plates and column from a friend to do this cake, as I didn't have time to get one in before the cake was due. I made my flowers ahead of time (this helps tremendously). I waited a little late to make and attach my tree trunk and branches, and it kind of stressed me a little when it didn't want to stick, I needed another set of hands to hold them up while they dried enough to stick. (I think I put too much piping jel on the columns.) But the cake was well worth the effort when I got it done, I was truly amazed, and pleased, and so was the little girl that I did the cake for. I ordered me the set of plates and columns needed for this cake, and can't wait to make another one!!! I loved it, truly a fantasy birthday cake. You have to get your plates and columns back as they are fairly expensive, but you can use them for many of items when serving large amounts of finger foods they are a necessity, several plate sizes makes it a true must have set. I din't have much trouble delivering the cake, I just made sure it had set and dried a while, and that I took my time driving.
