We all know Minions love bananas...and this Despicable Me 3 Banana Cake is sure to please Minions of all ages! Use fondant to create a spiral of bananas on the front of this cake and then add a fun Minion birthday candle on the top for a dessert that’s sure to be the crowning touch to any Despicable Me-themed party! Further personalize this cake by adding a name to the top of the cake or a number in the center of the banana spiral. An easy cake for beginners, this Banana Cake is oh so a-peel-ing!
Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. While cake cools, print out pattern. Set aside.
Ice cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe instructions. Level, fill and stack cake layers for 4 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth.
Tint fondant. Tint 2 oz. white fondant yellow using color combination provided. Using fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll out yellow fondant. Using banana pattern and craft knife, cut out eight bananas.
Leave two bananas whole. Trim two bananas to 3½ in., two bananas to 2 in., and two bananas to 1½ in. Set all bananas on cornstarch-dusted cake board.
Using FoodWriter marker, draw line down center of each banana.
Decorate cake. Position bananas in spiral on front of cake, about ¼ in. apart, leaving about 1¼ in. in center of spiral. Position candle on top of cake.
