Coral and Pink Flower Cake

Make a sweet treat for an upcoming bridal shower or baby shower with this Coral and Pink Flower Cake. A quick and easy project for beginning decorators, this small 6 in. cake features a cute duo-colored flower in the center.   1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool.
  2. Prepare icing. Prepare two recipes buttercream icing. Tint 1/2 cup icing coral using color combinations provided. Using Pink icing color, tint additional 1/4 cup icing pink. Reserve remaining icing white.

    *Combine Orange and Pink icing colors to get coral color shown.

  3. Ice cake. Place cake on turntable. Spatula ice cake with white icing. Using tip of spatula, start at bottom of cake and slowly move tip upwards as cake spins, forming lines around sides of cake. Repeat on top of cake, starting at outer edge and working towards center.
  4. Pipe flower. Prepare decorating bag with tip 127. Spatula stripe bag using pink icing; fill with coral icing. Reserve remaining pink icing. Pipe large 5-petal flower in center of cake.

    Prepare decorating bag with tip 8 and reserved pink icing. Pipe dot in center of flower.
