Claus for Celebration! Cupcakes
Meet the Claus Family! Santa, Mrs. Claus and Snowman cupcakes standing on Santa Silly-Feet! Silicone Baking Cups. Decorated with gingerbread cookies, assorted Christmas candies and colorful icing. Reusable baking cups also serve as treat containers.
Each cupcake serves 1.
For all except candy cup, bake and cool cupcakes in silicone cups supported by cookie sheet.
Using tip 1A and stiff consistency buttercream, pipe a mound of icing on top for head on Santa, Mrs. Claus and snowman. Smooth with spatula. Decorate as follows:
Santa - For hat, pipe a tip 2A mound on top of head; pull down for tassel (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
For arms, cut lollipop sticks to 3 in.; insert 1 1/2 in. into cupcake. Pipe arms with buttercream, inserting tip 21 over stick and pulling out bag with even pressure.
For hands, roll out spice drops on waxed paper sprinkled with sugar. Cut hand shapes with paring knife. Attach hands to arms with dots of icing.
Pipe tip 4 swirl beard and moustache. Pipe tip 3 dot eyes and nose (flatten and smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
With tip 2, pipe in mouth and dot pupils (flatten and smooth). Add tip 2 zigzag eyebrows. Pipe tip 3 e-motion hat trim and pompom.
Mrs. Santa - Pipe tip 104 stand-up ruffle. Add tip 4 swirl hair. Pipe tip 3 outline eyes; pipe-in mouth and dot cheeks (flatten and smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Add tip 3 dot nose and tip 2 pull-out eyelashes.
Snowman - For hat, cover cracker and marshmallow with melted candy; refrigerate to set. Attach with melted candy; refrigerate to set. Pipe tip 3 outline hatband.
Pipe tip 6 dot eyes (pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch). Pipe tip 3 dot pupils (flatten and smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Add tip 3 outline mouth and dot cheeks (flatten and smooth). Attach candy corn nose and hat with dots of icing.
Candy cup - Decorate gingerbread boy cookie with tip 1 dot eyes, buttons and outline smile. Fill Silly-Feet! cup with assorted candy and cookie.
E-Motion works best for bottom borders or western lariats. If you need to change positions while piping a border, push in tip at the end of the ?e? and continue for a smooth look.
The Zigzag is a popular way to fill in outlined areas, perfect for ribbed sweater and cuff effects. You can also use tight zigzags to cover the entire side of your cake—they look great!
Perfect for classic borders or cloudlike decorations, dots are a versatile technique that can be piped in a range of sizes. The dot technique can be used as a simple border for cakes and cookies, as well as for icing cupcakes or piping meringues.
Characters or designs are often outlined first, then piped in with stars or zigzags. Outlines can also be used for facial features.
Ruffles add a decorative top border to your cakes or cupcakes. Pipe ruffles around plaques or to trim doll dresses or bonnets.
