Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread Wilton Cake Release on or spray 10 in. pan with vegetable pan spray.

Step 2

Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwavable bowl at HIGH 2 minutes or until butter is melted or melt on top of range in heavy saucepan over low heat.

Step 3

Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

Step 4

Stir sugar into melted chocolate mixture until well blended.

Step 5

With electric mixer at low speed, beat in eggs, one at time, until completely mixed. Add vanilla.

Step 6

Stir in 1/2 cup of the flour, the baking soda and the salt.

Step 7

Beat in remaining flour alternately with water until well blended and smooth.

Step 8

Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 15 minutes on cooling rack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made this cake for my sisters going away party and it was kinda dissapointing. It was very very rich and tasted like brownies... not a cake. Also I was upset because the top of the cake was so crunchy it kinda just flaked off. It mite have been overcooked but the inside was still gooey. i am very open to suggestions on what to do different next time. Thanks!
