Give family and friends something to chirp about during spring celebrations by serving this chick-shaped cake. It?s simple to create using our 3-Tier Paisley Pan Set and 10-Pc. Fondant/Gum Paste Tool Set.
In advance: Make beak and feet. Add 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex to 1 1/2 oz. fondant. Tint 1 oz. brown, 1/2 oz. orange. Roll out brown 1/8 in. thick. Cut a 2 1/4 x 1/2 in. strip. Wrap around end of Lollipop Stick for leg (leave remainder of stick bare to insert into cake); smooth. Repeat. Roll 4 logs, 1 1/2 in. long; match width to leg. Use Thinned Fondant Adhesive to attach to sides for toes. For beak, roll 3/4 in. ball of fondant into cone 1 1/4 in. long. Cut lollipop stick to 3 in. Insert into beak, leaving 2 1/2 in. exposed to insert into cake. Let pieces dry overnight on cornstarch-dusted surface.
For wing, shape 4 oz. fondant into flattened teardrop, 3 x 4 1/2 in. long. Use veining tool to make indentations for feathers. Attach using damp brush. Cut black eye using wide end of tip; attach. Insert beak and legs.
Sprinkle around cake with tinted coconut. Position jelly beans.
