This modern art cake is as beautiful as it is fun, which makes it perfect for any celebration or entertaining! To coordinate with the Wilton Sweetdots Cake Board, cut tinted fondant circles using Round Cut-Outs Fondant Cutters.
Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake. Cake is one-layer, 3 inches high. Place on cake board.
Cover cake with fondant. Prepare cake for rolled fondant. Use 20 in. fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out 18 oz. white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cover cake with fondant. Reserve remaining fondant.
Decorate cake. Tint 2 oz. reserved fondant each light burgundy, dark burgundy, green, blue and violet. Use 9 in. fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out each tinted fondant, separately, 1/16 in. thick. Use round Cut-Outs to cut circles in each color and in each size.
Use circles to create fondant inlays for top of cake. Use damp brush to attach fondant inlays to top of cake.
