Hats off to the birthday boy or girl! These Capped Off Cupcakes are topped by a fun frilled party hat made with Sugar Sheets! Edible Decorating Paper and decorated with colorful confetti sprinkles for the perfect finish.
Bake and cool cupcakes. Ice smooth with buttercream.
Using second largest circle cutter as a guide, trace shape using black FoodWriter on back (shiny) side of Sugar Sheets! colors. Cut circle with knife. Cut in half; curl into cone shape. Attach ends with piping gel. Cut 1/8 in. off top for inserting fringe. Cut a 1 1/8 x 2 1/2 in. rectangle; cut 1/8 in. wide fringe strips, leaving 3/8 in. uncut. Brush bottom edge with piping gel and roll up. Insert in top of hat, securing with piping gel; fluff out fringe to shape.
For fringe on hat base, cut two 1 x 4 in. rectangles; cut 1/8 in. wide fringe strips, leaving 1/4 in. uncut; Attach to hat with piping gel; separate and fluff fringe. Using piping gel in cut parchment bag, pipe dots and attach confetti. Position cap on cupcake.
