Fashion an eye-popping pile of presents using Square Pan cakes and fondant flourishes. Write best-wishes messages on white fondant using our Happy Birthday Fondant Imprint Mat and colorfully tinted piped icings.
2-3 days in advance: Make fondant bow loops, name, balloons, streamers.
Prepare fondant. Knead 1 tablespoon Gum-Tex into 32 oz. fondant. Divide and tint as follows: 8 oz. yellow, 6 oz. red, 6 oz. blue, 6 oz. green, 2 oz. rose, 4 oz. dark violet. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed.
Make bow loops. Cut 10 yellow strips 1 x 7 3/4 in. long. Using yellow, blue, red and green, cut 3 strips each 1 x 3 1/2 in. long. Fold strips over to form loops. Brush ends with damp brush; align ends and pinch slightly to secure. Stand loops on sides to dry on cornstarch-dusted surface.
Make fondant name. Cut letters using cutters from set. Brush with piping gel and sprinkle on red sugar. Let dry then attach to Lollipop Sticks using melted candy.
Make balloons. Using medium circle cutter from set, cut 1 yellow and 2 each blue, violet and green circles. Let dry then attach to Lollipop Sticks using melted candy. Cut small triangles for balloon knots. Attach to sticks and pipe highlights using melted candy. Curl matching ribbon and tie onto sticks.
Make streamers. Using Cutter/Embosser Wheel fitted with 2 straight wheels and 1/4 in. spacer, cut 25 strips 4 to 8 in. long in assorted colors. Shape into random curved lines; let dry on sides. Cut Lollipop Sticks to 4 in. long. Attach to bottom end of each streamer using melted candy.
Bake and cool four 6 in. 2-layer base cakes (bake two 1 1/2 in. high layers for each 3 in. high cake), one 8 in. 2-layer main cake (bake 2 in. high layers for a 4 in. high cake) and one 8 in. 1-layer lid cake (1 in. high).
Set on cut-to-fit cake boards and prepare for rolled fondant. Tint 20 oz. each rose and dark violet, 22 oz. each green and blue, 2 oz. red. Cover base cakes with tinted fondant. Roll out some yellow, green, blue and red fondant for ribbons. Cut 3 strips 1 x 8 in. long for each cake. Brush with damp brush and attach.
Roll out 36 oz. of white fondant. Cover main cake; smooth. Roll out an additional 36 oz. and imprint using Happy Birthday mat. Cut a 10 1/2 in. square and cover lid cake. Cut four 8 x 4 in. strips and attach to sides of main cake. Use tip 1 and tinted icing to fill in imprinted designs. Position base cakes on foil-covered foamcore board. Use lid cake to lightly mark where main cake will sit; insert dowel rod supports. Position main cake. Attach 3 bow loops to top of base cakes. Attach lid cake to round plate. Build bow on lid cake. Trim 6 loop ends to a ?V.? Arrange in a circle; attach with melted candy. Attach 3 center loops.
At party: Assemble cakes. Line up lid cake and mark feet positions of round plate on main cake top; insert Twist Legs. Insert balloons, streamers and name, trimming sticks as needed. Position lid cake on legs.
