Celebrate with cupcakes that feature an explosion of color inside and out! Outside, we?ve molded dazzling fondant candles in the Wilton Kids Party Fondant and Gum Paste Mold. Inside, we?ve baked a surprise color center using the Two-Tone Cupcake Pan Set with rainbow nonpareils mixed into white batter.
Make candles one day in advance. For each treat, knead 1/4 teaspoons Gum-Tex into 1 oz. fondant. Tint 1/4 oz. portions of fondant orange, teal, rose and yellow.
Use fondant roller to press fondant into kids party mold to make three candles per treat. Let dry on cornstarch-dusted cake board.
Make cupcakes. Prepare white and chocolate batter following recipe directions. Gently stir rainbow nonpareils into white batter.
Place two-tone insert in baking cup-lined muffin pan. Use a cut disposable decorating bag to fill center ring of insert 2/3 full with white batter. Use a cut disposable decorating bag to fill outer ring of insert 2/3 full with chocolate batter. Remove insert and repeat until all cavities are filled. Remove insert. Bake and cool cupcakes.
Decorate cupcakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use tip 1M and icing to pipe a swirl on top of cupcakes. Position jumbo nonpareils. Insert candles.
