Animal-topped petit fours are a fun addition to baby showers or an infant?s birthday party. Use our patterns and fondant and piped icing details to turn Mini Stand-Up Bear cakes into jolly jungle creatures.
In advance: Make fondant ears. Roll out 1 oz. white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use patterns to cut animal ears (flip pattern for 2nd ear). Let dry on cornstarch-dusted board.
For animals: Bake and cool mini bear cakes. Cut off ears. Shape feet using 3/4 in. fondant ovals; attach with icing. Pipe tip 2A elephant trunk. Pipe tip 16 star tiger stripes. For all, ice smooth soles of feet and inside areas of fondant ears. Attach ears with icing. Pipe tip 3 dot eyes, outline mouths and dot or fill-in noses. Cover animals with tip 13 stars; overpipe arms for dimension. Pipe tip 16 pullout star lion?s mane.
For blocks: Bake and cool 2-layer cakes. Tint fondant: 4 oz. violet; 24 oz. each blue, yellow, green, pink. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed. Prepare and cover cakes with rolled fondant. Cut letters; attach using damp brush. Attach confetti using icing dots.
