Bake cakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two 6 in. cake layers and three 8 in. cake layers.
Trim 6 in. layers to 1½ in. high. Fill and stack for 3 in. high cake. Level, fill and stack 8 in. layers for 6 in. high cake.
Prepare cakes for fondant covering and stacked construction.
